This new sign was designed and painted by volunteer artist Jonathan Andy Weeks.
Jonathan originally came to us hoping to volunteer on the Gould Street Homes Renovation Project. But when it was discovered that Jonathan was actually a painter of beautiful landscapes, Tina asked him to gift the community with a beautiful new mural. And boy did he! This beautiful work of art reflects the days of old and new of Lakewood Heights. In it, you can see scenes of the now gone Lakewood Fairgrounds' Ferris wheels, the historic buildings of EUE Screen Gems Studios at the Lakewood Fairgrounds, a charming old gas station, a couple of beautifully restored Victorian homes, and oak trees older than the neighborhood itself. Jonathan Andy Weeks is a happily married father of 2 (one born just last week), a law student, and a truly gifted artist. Thank You Jonathan for your amazing gift to our community. It truly makes me happy to come home to. Bring the whole family out to celebrate the new skate park at Arthur Langford Jr. Park Friday, December 11th! The unveiling of this exciting new space is kicking off “Happier Together,” a city wide campaign to engage the community in the spirit of togetherness, because communities that are #HappierTogether, are stronger together! Come on out December 11 at 1614 Arthur Langford Place SE, Atlanta for prizes, music, activities, and more! This FREE event is fun for the entire family!
The green building sector is outpacing overall construction growth in the U.S. and will account for more than 2.3 million American jobs this year.
This is just one of the exciting findings in the just released USGBC green building economic impact report, prepared by Booz Allen Hamilton. This study also finds that the green building industry contributes more than $134.3 billion in labor income to working Americans. The trajectory of the green building sector of the U.S. construction industry is slated for expansive growth. To date, green building has created millions of jobs and contributed hundreds of billions of dollars to the U.S. economy. Not surprisingly, LEED is a pivotal contributor to this total impact. 25TH ANNIVERSARY
