Lakewood EcoDistrict

We've done it!

We are proud to announce that Sustainable Lakewood and Lakewood Heights were chosen as one of only three beta communities for Sustainable Atlanta's EcoDistrict program!

From May 18 - 20 of 2015, seven delegates representing the Greater Lakewood Heights EcoDistrict took part in the national EcoDistricts Incubator held in Portland, Oregon.  During this incubator, these delegates worked as a team to develop a strategy for implementation and set the priorities of the Lakewood EcoDistrict.  This work will be inclusive.  It is our hope that you will join us as we begin the work of restoring our area into a neighborhood that meets the needs of all of its residents while helping to preserve and restore its ecological system.

Can you see it? We can and we will see it in NPU-Y. Click to learn more about the NPU-Y EcoDistrict Initiative. We welcome your support of our vision!

As an extension of the EcoDistrict strategies, the
Lakewood Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) lays out the plan "to link transportation and land use, increase housing options, promote mixed-use development, expand transportation choice, and encourage
thoughtful economic growth." Sustainable Lakewood is currently working with the city's Planning Department on rezoning the neighborhood's commercial area. One of our hard-working interns advancing this plan behind the scenes is Timothy Cho! Nicknamed by the team as Techno Tim (being very help with technology), he is known for his go-getter personality, punctuality and  great people skills.
